A kiss, when all is told, what is it? An oath taken a little closer, a promise more exact. A wish that longs to be confirmed, a rosy circle drawn around the verb ‘to love’. A kiss is a secret which takes the lips for the ear, a moment of infinity humming like a bee, a communion tasting of flowers, a way of breathing in a little of the heart and tasting a little of the soul with the edge of the lips!”
― Edmond Rostand, Cyrano de Bergerac
A KIss….so much to say about what a kiss on the lips means to me.
I will be back….
A kiss is so personal to me. I don’t kiss anyone on the lips unless I feel some connection to them. I dated men for weeks before I would kiss them on the lips.
I am a cheek kisser…..it’s easy and it’s meaningful to those I know.
But to feel that connection from your gut…..you are drawn to the lips.
Its so intimate. To taste each other…to breathe each others breath in.
You can’t do that with just anyone. Well….I can’t.
I read this article about kissing that was so interesting.
Here is a taste of it…
“Women, in general, may regard the kiss as more important and attribute to it more meaning in the process of choosing a partner and maintaining a relationship. Women tend to see kissing less as a sexual act and more as an intimate act. Women rely more on the kiss to identify and assess a potential partner. They tend to be more attuned to the taste and smell of the man, and are much less willing to have sex without kissing beforehand. They are also somewhat more likely to use a bad kiss as reason to break off contact with a potential lover.” ~ Noam Shpancer Ph.D.
Here is a link to his article.
That was a beautiful quote about kissing you posted.
A Kiss is felt before ever lips do touch
If a kiss is to be
Two are drawn as the morning star draws the sun
Eyes linger as if a thousand times
And not believing the view
Before drinking the warm moist of the breath
Perhaps fumbling between those young and new
But between those who have gone through the pain
To get to the real
The looked for is not unexpected
